William Beeson Campbell, Sr. – Obituary

williamWilliam Beeson Campbell, Sr., 82, of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away at home, Wednesday, June 11, 2014. His family will receive friends, Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. His funeral service will be held Monday at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Bedsole officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 in Glendwood Cemetery, Ft. Payne, Alabama with Rev. Ricky Smith presiding.

Mr. Campbell was awarded a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Alabama and retired from Reynolds Metals/International. He was a veteran of the U.S. army and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. He had a passion for genealogy and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Confederacy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Sue Campbell; brothers, Andrew Lewis Campbell Jr., Dr. Lamar M. Campbell and Frank D. Campbell.

Survivors include his son, William B. Campbell Jr. (Linda); daughters, Ann Campbell Schaetzle (Mike), Lucy Jenkins (Keith); grandchildren, William B. Campbell III, Andrew Lewis Campbell V, Caroline Elizabeth Campbell, Emma Gray Schaetzle and Mary-Campbell Jenkins. Pallbearers are Keith Jenkins, Mike Schaetzle, Mark Sherman, Jon Love, Macon Burns, William Campbell III, and Andrew Campbell V.

Gerald Ragland will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.

The family would like to thank Pam Etheridge and the rest of the staff of Brentwood Retirement Community, and Hospice of the Shoals. They would also like to express their gratitude to two very special caregivers; April Chandler and Mary Alexander.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of which Mr. Campbell was a long-time supporter.
