Arnold Richardson Profile Photo  William Arnold Richardson was welcomed into his eternal home in heaven October 27, 2024. He was born November 1, 1936 in Monroe County to Jack and Verna Richardson. After graduating from Becker High School in 1954, he joined the United States Air Force. Arnold received a Good Conduct Medal serving our country from January 1955 until September 1958 as an Air-Policeman. After coming home he worked for Pickle Funeral Home and on December 24,1962 he married Ann Walden. They made a loving home and enjoyed traveling together, especially to the Great Smokey Mountains. They were blessed with 56 years together before Ann passed away on July 13, 2019. Surprisingly, Arnold took in a stray cat, named her “Big -Un” and she gave him so much joy and company over the last few years. A fine example of a Christian man, he served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon at Riverbend Baptist Church.

In the early 1970’s he and Mr. Billy Carisle opened Carisle-Richardson appliance company. Arnold was blessed with a great skill in craftmanship and started his own company as a carpenter with his brother, Ernest. He kept his business going until he finally retired in 2018. As a founding member of Becker Vounteer Fire Department he graduated from the State Fire Academy in 1988. Arnold was well known by many in the community and also served as Treasure at Quincy Water Association until 2023. After retirement he enjoyed reading westerns, solving sudoku puzzles, googling random things to still learn about, and his newest – texting his family. Arnold and Ann had no children together but they both greatly enjoyed spending time with their nieces and nephews over the years.

Arnold is survived by two nephews, Allen Richardson (Charlette) and Michael Richardson (Cindy) and one niece Dianne Dulaney; four great-nephews Joseph Richardson, Bryan Richardson (Elizabeth), Justin Richardson (Lela), and Bradley Richardson and one great-niece Brandi Temple (Clayton); and five great-great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many special friends from over the years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ann, parents Jack and Verna Richardson, and his brother Ernest Richardson and sister-in-law Barbara.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Mark Robbins and Bro. Bryan Richardson officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Haughton Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank NMMC-Gilmore-Amory ER staff and Dr. Ridgeland Dabbs and Dr. Shayna Thompson for their excellent care.

In Lieu of flowers: Amory Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
