Mr. (William) Archie Johnson, a lifelong residence of Lauderdale County and avid horseman during his life died at home with family in attendance on March 29, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ms. Martha Reathford Johnson. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents Mary McDonald and Grover C. Johnson of Lauderdale County and his sister Marie Stamps. He is survived by their daughter Susan Johnson Gist and her husband Christopher R. Gist with granddaughter Bayley C. Gist of Florence, AL; and his son Professor William Gregory Johnson and his life partner Dr. Roy L. Simpson of Atlanta, GA.
The family extends a special appreciation to Hospice of the Shoals- Bethany and Cynthia for professional services of caring and compassion. Graveside services will be held in memorial for interment of cremains for Mr. Johnson at 10:00AM CST on Saturday April 6, 2013‘s at Community Freewill Baptist church cemetery. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall immediately following the memorial.
