Mr. William Allen “Billy” Floyd Sr., age 72, of Horn Lake, Mississippi passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home.
Billy was born on August 2, 1948 and was the son of the late William C. Floyd, Jr. and Melva Williamson Floyd. He was a 1966 graduate of Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He proudly served his Country in the United States Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam as a mechanic. He retired from Thompson Machinery in Memphis, Tennessee in 2016 with thirty-six years of service. Billy loved his family, and his children and grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He loved listening to country music and watching Nascar.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-five years, Darlene Ellis Floyd, two daughters, Penny Roark (Travis) of Ft Mitchell, AL, Shannon Floyd Hatcher (Jason) of Lake Cormorant, MS and one son, William Allen Floyd, Jr (Emily) of Hernando, MS. He leaves behind eight grandchildren that truly loved and adored their “Paw-Paw” – Eric Woodward (Rebecca), Jayson (JJ) Hatcher, Jacob Hatcher, Destiny Hatcher Skaggs (Andy), Bryanna Hedden (Kaine), Kendall, Luke and Brooks Floyd. He also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by one sister, Gay Floyd of Columbia, TN, three brothers, Jimmy Floyd (Brenda) of Mt. Pleasant, TN; Phil Floyd (Penny) of Columbia, TN and Ricky Floyd of Murfreesboro, TN. Uncle B was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Columbia, Tennessee at a later date.
