William Alan “Bill” Robison, age 85 of Anniston, passed away on May 10, 2024.

Bill was born in Anniston, Alabama on January 30, 1939, the son of C. Lee Robison and Hilda Smith Robison. He graduated from Indian Springs School in Helena, Alabama, and then attended Georgia Tech where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He later earned a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Florida while working in Pensacola. He served in the United States Army with active and reserve time of 7 years. His first job after leaving active duty was with Chemstrand in Pensacola. In 2019 Bill retired from Calhoun County Community Corrections after serving as Director for 25 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his three brothers Mike, Edward, and John. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Emily; his children, Laura Robison Kile (Dorn), William Alan Robison, Jr. (Jehna), Michael Evans Robison (Tobie); 9 grandchildren: Rebecca Dison (Tyler), Thomas Kerr, Gabbi Kile, Billy Robison, Ellie Robison, Carlisle Robison, Birdie Robison, Hannah Emily Robison, Michael Robison; 3 great grandchildren: Genevieve Davis, Madeline Davis and Oliver Dison. He is also survived by his sister, Hilda Hunter and his sister-in-law Jamie Robison, and several nephews and nieces.

Bill had three primary allegiances: his family, his city, and his country. He served on the Anniston City Planning Commission, Anniston City Council (8 years as Mayor), and the Anniston City Board of Education. He was active as a member of the Anniston Water Board for 26 years and the McClellan Development Authority for 4 years.

Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 48 years where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees and Camp Lee Board there.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Anniston First United Methodist Church, 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anniston First United Methodist Church, Interfaith Ministries of Anniston, or to your favorite charity.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice and to Dr. Margaret Davenport.
