Willard Butler Hawk – Obituary

Funeral service for Willard Butler Hawk, age 94, of Trinity, will be Thursday, October 9, 2014,  3:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Gibson officiating.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.    Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Hawk, who died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Decatur Health & Rehabilitation, was born April 10, 1920, in Marshall County, to Robert Henry Hawk and Louisa Butler Hawk.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Magnolia “Maggie” Shelton Hawk, and son, Jamey Hawk.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, a member of the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame, and was the first football coach for the Courtland Hawks.  Mr. Hawk retired as principal at West Morgan High School in 1981.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Hawk Prince and husband, Johnnie, of Lexington; one foster son, Troy Moore of Addison; one sister, Bernie Yarbro of Huntsville; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Cody Prince and Taryn Prince.

Pallbearers will be nephews.
