Wilda Owens Jones – Obituary

Wilda Owens Jones, a long time resident of Falkville, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the age of 94, after an extended bout with Alzheimers.  Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Merle Owen, a brother: Bill Owen and a sister: Melba Higdon.

She is survived by her Husband of 76 years:
Edward Lavon Jones, Falkville, AL

One Son:
Rodney Jones, Carbondale, IL and New Orleans, LA

One Daughter:
Vondalyn Jones Hall (Robert), Opelika, AL

One Sister:
Merlene Nesmith

Five Grandchildren:
Alexis Jones,
Samuel Jones,
Betsy Ledoux (Nick),
Amelia Stehouwer (Seth) and
Katie Hackleman (Jon)

Four Great Grandchildren

Wilda was a devoted wife and mother, always placing her family’s needs above her own.

In her productive years, Mrs. Jones was known as an outstanding homemaker, a leader in her community and knowledgable Sunday School teacher at Fairview “The Grace Place”. Wilda enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, designing and making clothes and entertaining.

The Memorial and Funeral service will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.  Burial will be in Jones Cemetery.  Visitation with family members will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home prior to the service.

The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers, who loved and cared for her during the last few years: Lisa Roberson, Jessica Roberson, Gretchen Kent, Cynthia Roberson and Cesaly Grey. Gratitude is also expressed to the Hospice of North Alabama for their compassionate care.
