Events and Festivals

September 22-26, 2021 – North Alabama State Fair, Fairgrounds, 65 Sportsplex Dr, Muscle Shoals. The fair is back for 2021! Although it will be scaled back, you can still enjoy the rides, food, games, lamb show, dairy cattle show, heifer show, petting zoo AND the Fearless Flores Family Thrill Show!! . Come out to the fair for fun for the whole family – a Shoals area tradition since 1935.

Gates open:   Wednesday-Friday at 5pm, Saturday & Sunday at 12 noon.

October 1- November 12, 2021 – From These Threads: Cotton Culture, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 N Water St, Tuscumbia. Dozens of beautiful quilts will be on display at the TVMA for this      exhibition. Cotton in the South has a long, rich, and complicated past. From These Threads: Cotton    Culture will offer visitors the opportunity to travel through some of the history of cotton, its              production, and its use in the creation of quilts over the past 190 years. The exhibit will feature       historical quilts dating from the 1830s through contemporary pieces created by today’s quilt artists. The quilts are drawn from private collections in the area. Tennessee Valley Art Museum is offering free admission this year to education, healthcare, and first responder workers as part of our Arts for the Frontline program. 

October 2-3, 2021 – Shoals Fest, McFarland Park, 200 James M. Spain Dr, Florence. Two-day music festival, started by Jason Isbell, Saturday: Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, Lucinda Williams, Candi Staton, Amanda Shires, Cedric Burnside, Farmer Jason. Sunday: Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, Drive-By Truckers, Centro-Matic, Slobberbone, The Pine Hill Haints, Farmer Jason. All tickets are 2-day festival tickets.

October 6-30, 2021 – “Cold Weather Comforts”, Belle Mont, 1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia. “Cold Weather Comforts” is an exhibit of antique and vintage quilts and oil lamps. The exhibit may be viewed October 6-30 during regular business hours.  Wednesdays – Saturdays, 10 am-4 pm. October 8, 15, 22, & 29, 2021 – “Cold Weather Comforts” Programs, Belle Mont, 1569 Cooks Lane, Tuscumbia. A “show and tell” discussion of quilts led by Glenn Rikard, on the courtyard of Belle Mont, will be held each Friday in October at 1pm.  Individuals are invited to bring quilts from their personal collections to share.  (In case of inclement weather, the courtyard program will be cancelled.) The program, a quilt and oil lamp exhibit, and museum tours are all included in the regular admission rates.  Social distancing, with masks indoors, encouraged. Information: 256-381-5052

 October 8-9, 2021 – 2021 Car Audio Championship, North Alabama State Fairgrounds, 65 Sportsplex Dr, Muscle Shoals. Come on out and experience the loudest CAR & BIKE SYSTEMS in ALABAMA.   Hundreds of vehicles will be on display and competing with their systems in over 50 formats of    competition. Vendors will have products on display and showcasing new technology for consumers interested in after-market audio and accessories. Show hours are 10am-6pm each day. Tickets available at gate. October 23-24, 2021 – Alabama Renaissance Faire, Wilson Park, downtown Florence. Take a step back in time at Alabama’s official Renaissance Faire in “Renaissance City.” Wilson Park is transformed into Fountain-on-the-Green for an entire weekend, with vendors, demonstrators and performers on location. October 30, 2021 – Magical Masquerade, Rogers Hall, UNA Campus, Florence. (A special event fundraiser benefitting the Shoals Symphony Orchestra) Join the SSO for magical night of music and mystery! November 7, 2021 – Shoals Symphony presents One Thousand and One Nights, Norton Auditorium,

UNA Campus, Florence. Rimsky-Korsakov tells the Arabian Nights tale of the cruel Sultan Shahryar.   After One Thousand and One Nights the Sultan has fallen for the one in which the masterpiece is named, Scheherazade. Show begins at 3 pm. Tickets: www.shoalssymphony.org

November 11, 2021 – Veteran’s Day Parade & Ceremony, 201 N. Main Street Tuscumbia. Enjoy the parade in historic downtown Tuscumbia and honor all veterans, past & present, serving our great nation around the world.  Contact: Colbert County Commission 256-386-8500.

November 20, 2021 – Christmas in the Country, LaGrange College Site Park, 1491 LaGrange College Road, Leighton.  Take a walk back in time and experience Christmas of yesteryear. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Center upon arrival and purchase something delicious at the annual Bake Sale. Pioneer log cabins will be decorated inside and out for self-guided tours. Other activities include arts and crafts vendors, hay rides to the historic LaGrange Cemetery, and visits with Santa. Saturday’s event is 10am – 4pm. Free event.
