Full Moon Players Present Misery, Cypress Moon

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it, and it does. The event is in the Full Moon Theater at Cypress Moon Studios. Showtimes will be March 2nd-4th at 7 pm and March 5th at 2 PM.

St Patrick’s Day Concert at Historic St. John’s Church

On Thursday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. a Pre-St. Patrick’s Day concert will be performed by the Wildwood Trio at St. John’s Episcopal Church located in historic downtown Tuscumbia. This will be the group’s third appearance in the historical setting, which lends itself to intimate acoustic performances. Attending the concert is free, which is sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church, Sheffield.
Public Stargazing at LaGrange

Join members of Shoals Astronomy Club at LaGrange College Site Park in Leighton for a night sky tour Friday, March 17, 2023. Weather permitting, the roof will roll off the historic LaGrange Observatory at 6:30 p.m., and amateur astronomers will curate a night sky tour as darkness falls. There is no fee to attend, but donations will be accepted. Shoals Astronomy Club, a local group of amateur astronomers, will show star-forming regions, supernova remnants, and beautiful star clusters through their club telescope. They encourage people of all ages to attend and enjoy the limitless beauty of the night sky. This event is weather-dependent. March 18 will serve as the rain date in case of uncooperative weather.

For more than 25 years, Alabama natives Jil Chambless and Scooter Muse have been performing the music of Scotland, Ireland, and early America with various ensembles in a wide variety of venues, from simple house concerts to festivals and concert halls. It will feature the comic illustrations of Christopher Hanther, who worked for Marvel Comics and illustrated the long-running comic Tandra. Induction to the Alabama Music Hall of Fame is reserved for a select few Alabamians who have made exceptional musical contributions throughout their careers. The first induction was held in 1985 and occurs every other year, commemorated by a celebratory Induction Banquet.

Kite Day at Belle Mont

National Kite Month will be celebrated with Kite Day at Belle Mont on Saturday, March 25, beginning at 1:00 at Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia. The event, which is co-hosted by Helen Keller Public Library, will include a kite-making workshop (supplies furnished), story time, refreshments, and kite-flying on the Belle Mont field.
