COLBERT COUNTY-Just in from Colbert County Tourism … a big Bang of events happening in July in and around Colbert County:

July 4, 2024 – 41 st Annual Spirit of Freedom Celebration, McFarland Park, Florence. Get ready for an
exciting Independence Day celebration with food trucks, live music, and fireworks! The 41st Annual Spirit of
Freedom Celebration will be on July 4th at McFarland Park. Entry is FREE. Food trucks will open at 11 AM. Live
music will begin later in the day, and there will be fireworks over the water that night! Music starts at 3pm.
Featuring performances by Austin Bohannon, Outlaw Apostles, Local Brand, Oddly Ginger, and Taylor Grace.

July 4, 2024 – July 4 Midnight Ride, Rattlesnake Saloon, 1292 Mount Mills Rd, Tuscumbia, AL. Join us for the

July 5, 2024 – Trail Care Day at Cane Creek Canyon, 251 Loop Rd, Join us for a Trail Improvement Volunteer
Day supported by the North Alabama Trail & Recreation Program (NATR). From 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM on July
5th, we’ll use hand tools and non-mechanized equipment to build a more sustainable trail to one of the
preserve’s most visited sites. No experience required. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and bring water, snacks,
and work gloves. Extra water, work gloves, and tools will be provided. Each participant must register separately
and sign a waiver. Guardians may sign up on behalf of minors. Registration required. For more information or to

July 6, 2024 – Town of Cherokee Independence Day Celebration, Downtown Cherokee. The Town of
Cherokee will host its Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 6th. Starting at 6:00 PM, enjoy live
music from the Eric Kirkman Combo, food trucks, and another fireworks show to end the evening! Entry is free,
with food trucks opening at 11 AM and live music kicking off later in the day. For more information call 256-359-

July 8-11, 2024 – Advanced Art Camp, The Ritz Studio, 111 W. Third St., Sheffield. Advanced Art Camp with
Martha Carpenter returns this summer, July 8th through July 11th from 1:00-3:00 in the Ritz Studio. Advanced
Artists will work with the highly skilled portrait artist Martha Carpenter to explore advanced drawing methods,
learn new skills and refine existing techniques. This class is limited capacity to allow for one-on-one instruction
and feedback. Advanced Art Camp registration rates are $150.00 for the general public, and $125.00 for

July 12, 2024 – Zootopia Summer Movie Night, Muscle Shoals City Hall, 2010 E Avalon Ave, Muscle Shoals,

July 12, 13, 19, 20, 2024 – The Miracle Worker Play, Helen Keller’s Birthplace – Ivy Green, 300 North
Commons West, Tuscumbia, AL. Performed at the outdoor theater on the grounds of the historic Helen Keller
Birthplace, William Gibson’s play The Miracle Worker recalls the childhood of the deaf-blind child, who became
known as “America’s First Lady of Courage”, and her gifted teacher, Anne Sullivan. See the world of
communication open to Helen at the very spot where the miracle took place. The outdoor drama is the longest consecutively running drama in the state. This annual performance is held on Friday & Saturday evenings from

July 12-21, 2024 – Ritz SummerStock at Norton: Cabaret, Norton Auditorium, 500 North Pine Street,
Florence. Set in a Berlin nightclub as the 1920s end, a flamboyant Master of Ceremonies promises the
audience they will forget their troubles at the Cabaret. Through the Emcee's bawdy songs, the show delves into
the tumultuous lives of Berlin’s residents and expatriates as Germany edges toward the Third Reich. The story
follows Cliff, a young American writer, and his relationship with English singer Sally Bowles, alongside the
tentative romance between Fräulein Schneider and Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit seller. Musical numbers include
“Willkommen,” “Cabaret,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” and “Two Ladies.” Performance Dates: July 12th & 13th at 7PM,

National Heritage Area invites the community to join their next volunteer event. All supplies and direction will be
provided, and no experience is necessary. Volunteers will engage in various tasks such as cleaning, painting,
scraping, yard work, organizing materials, and more. Participants are encouraged to wear clothes suitable for
getting dirty, including jeans and closed-toe shoes. Bringing work gloves is recommended. For more
