The Miracle Worker
July 7, 8, 14, 15, 2023
Performances are on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm (gates open at 7 pm). Performed at the outdoor theater on the grounds of the historic Helen Keller Birthplace, this award-winning play recalls the childhood of the deaf-blind child, who became known as “America’s First Lady of Courage”, and her gifted teacher, Anne Sullivan. The outdoor drama, now in its 62nd season, is the longest consecutively running drama in the state. Reserved seats are $15, and General Admission is $10.

26th Annual “Saddle Up for St. Jude” Trail Ride 

July 14 – 16, 2023

Horseback trail riding, auctions, wagon rides, roping demonstrations, headliner concerts, and much more mark this two-day charitable event. This horse-related event benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and is the largest in the Southeast. W.C. Handy Music Festival
July 21 – 30, 2023
Various locations in Colbert and Lauderdale Counties. The W.C. Handy Festival is a weeklong celebration of the musical heritage of northwest Alabama, honoring Florence native W.C. Handy, the “Father of the Blues.” Over 200 events take place during the week, ranging from mini concerts to headliner concerts, plays to art exhibits, picnics to restaurants and clubs. Into the Woods
July 21-29, 2023
The Brothers Grimm hit the stage with an epic fairytale about wishes, family, and the choices we make. In Into the Woods, Lapine and Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, musical. The story follows a Baker and his wife, as well as Cinderella and Jack, each with their own wishes. A journey to break a Witch’s curse leads to wishes being granted but with unexpected consequences.

Artworks Member Exhibition

ArtWorks is the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art’s annual show featuring work by members of the Tennessee Valley Art Association. This large and diverse exhibition showcases the extraordinary skill of artists across the Tennessee Valley and surrounding regions.
