COLBERT COUNTY-The folks at Colbert County Tourism have rounded up some really fun events for the lat full month of summer.  Everything from music, to art, to wine tasting….something for everyone.

July 20 – August 17, 2024 – ARTWORKS 2024, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 W. Water St,
Tuscumbia. ARTWORKS 2024 is on display at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art from July 20th to August

August 8, 2024 – Thursday Night Red & White Wine Tasting, Tonic Bottle & Cork Boutique, 2306 Woodward
Ave, Muscle Shoals. Join Tonic Bottle & Cork Boutique from 5 PM to 7 PM for their Thursday Night Red & White
wine tasting. This week features a new affordable Chardonnay, a Pais (come find out what Pais is!), one of their

August 2, 2024 – Patterson Hood Live at The Ritz, The Ritz Theatre, 111 Third Street, Sheffield.
Join us for an unforgettable evening as Patterson Hood takes the stage at The Ritz. Renowned for his powerful
storytelling and politically charged lyrics, Hood is best known as the front man, singer, songwriter, and guitar
player for the critically acclaimed rock and roll band Drive-By Truckers. In addition to his musical talents, he is a
prolific writer of essays, columns, and short stories, as well as a solo performer and producer. Tickets are $35

August 3, 2024 – Watercolor Workshop with Tim Stevenson, Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 W.
Water St, Tuscumbia. This watercolor workshop, held from 10 AM to 3 PM, will feature a how-to demonstration
by Tim Stevenson focusing on still life, silver, glass, and oriental rugs. One of America’s finest landscape
painters, Tim Stevenson recently had a solo exhibition of over sixty of his most recent works at the Carnegie
Visual Arts Center in Decatur, Alabama. The exhibition showcased the peaceful vistas of the Tennessee Valley,
vivid still life, and thoughtful figurative paintings in watercolor and oil. A native-born Alabama artist, Stevenson has been painting for over fifty years in the tradition of the ‘Old Masters’ like Vermeer and Rembrandt. A self-
taught artist, he started by ‘drawing pictures for cookies’ at age three and has worked in cartooning, advertising, illustration, and billboard painting, becoming one of the country’s finest landscape and representational painters.
Registration is $140 per student, which includes supplies such as watercolors, paper (cotton paper is best),
pencil and eraser, and a water container. Tim will provide photos and objects to paint from.

August 3-10, 2024 – Dittos for Kiddos, North Alabama State Fairgrounds, 65 Sportsplex Dr, Muscle. Dittos for
Kiddos, one of North Alabama’s largest kiddo consignment events, features over 1,000 families consigning
gently used kids’ clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, baby equipment, and more. With two massive buildings packed
full and highly organized, a thorough pre-check of items dropped off, and a wide range of brands and styles
priced organically by consignors, this event offers great savings on favorite brands. Public sale dates are

August 10, 2024 – Indigo and Botanical Workshop with Nadene Mairesse, The Ritz Theatre Set Shop, 111
Third Street, Sheffield. Join Nadene Mairesse on Saturday, August 10th from 10 AM to 2 PM for an introduction
to Indigo and Botanical Textile Prints. Learn “resist” techniques for creating patterns on indigo-dyed cotton fabric
and steam print botanicals onto fabric. Materials needed: long rubber gloves and clothes for messy work.

August 10, 2024 – Back to School Bash, Oak and Ivy Threads, 104 N Main St, Tuscumbia, AL.
Oak and Ivy Threads is hosting a Back to School Bash during Second Saturdays from 5 PM to 8 PM. Shoals

August 10-11, 2024 – Charity Golf Tournament, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals, 990 Sunbelt
Parkway, Muscle Shoals.The Sunflower Golf Foundation, in partnership with Two-Man Tour, will host a charity
golf tournament to raise funds for Common Ground Shoals, supporting the youth in marginalized communities of

August 17, 2024 – Acrostic Affirmations Poetry Workshop with riel fuqua, Education Gallery at Tennessee
Valley Museum of Art, 511 W. Water St, Tuscumbia. Join riel fuqua (they/them/she/her) on Saturday, August
17th from 10 AM to 1 PM for a workshop focusing on the power of poetry and self-affirmation through acrostic
poetry. This workshop offers a safe space for participants to express and hold space for themselves and one
another. Sensory safe clothing and shoes are recommended. Tea, water, small bites, and good vibes will be
provided. Supplies such as paper, writing utensils, tissues, and hand-held mirrors will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring an open mind, an open heart, a yoga mat or blanket, any comfort items, a personal

August 17-18, 2024 – Volunteer Day with The Village School Foundation, 200 Chickamauga St, Sheffield,
AL. Join The Village School Foundation and Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area for a volunteer event on
Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th from 10 AM to 1 PM. Tasks include cleaning, painting,
scraping, yard work, organizing materials, and more. No experience necessary—supplies and direction will be
provided. Please wear clothes suitable for dirty work, such as jeans and closed-toe shoes. Feel free to bring
work gloves. Even if you can’t stay the whole morning, stop by to say hi and see what’s happening. Thanks to

August 24, 2024 – August Handprint Pottery, The Artsy Place, 710 E 6th St, Muscle Shoals, AL. Due to
increased demand, The Artsy Place will now offer handprint pottery by events only, starting with the August
Handprint Pottery event. Select any item in the studio that fits your child’s hand, and our staff will assist in
adding the handprint. Our professional artist will then complete the artwork for a small fee ranging from $6 to
$25. The piece will be glazed and fired, with a turnaround time of 1 to 2 weeks. If you have more than 2 kids or
