From the Webster Dictionary:

Recently I wrote an article for the Quad Cities Daily about a new camera that I had gotten.  I have been told several times that I need to get a hobby to help relieve stress.  Not only for reducing of stress, but to help with my health.  I have always had a passion for photography.  When I was younger, I was always taking pictures.  I kinda lost interest in it as I got older.

With some recent health issues, I decided to dive back into my love for photography.  With a purchase of a new camera, I started taking pictures.  The pictures were good, but I was missing something.  I have a friend named Charity Bailey, who does photography professionally.  She lives in Colorado so I gave her a call.  She told me the following:

“You have to search for that perfect picture.  Most of the time, the picture finds you instead of you finding the picture.  It can be a dog, people leaving from church or just a background.  I went out one day looking to take pictures.  I drove around for some time.   Finally, I saw a chair sitting in a field with the mountains in the background.  I knew that was the picture that I was looking for.”

So with that advice, my outlook on taking pictures has changed.  I keep my camera with me all the time.  I never know when I will see “that picture.”  Photography is a passion.  It is something that is all or nothing.  You have to devote time as well money to get good at it.  I took a Digital Photography course at the University of North Alabama to help me understand it more.  Also, you are always learning.  Choice of Shutter speeds, lighting, backgrounds, etc are always evolving.

I have gotten to where every Sunday, I have gone out taking pictures of everything basically.  I have begun to look forward to my Sunday excursions.  I do feel that it has helped to lower my stress levels.

Below are some of Charity’s pictures that she has taken.  They reflect what she told me about taking pictures.   Also, Charity is moving back to Alabama later this year so if you  need wedding pictures, engagement pictures, baby pictures, etc, she would be the one to talk to.
