Funeral for Wendell Wayne “Boots” Heard, 72, of Roanoke will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel in Wedowee with Reverend Tommy Burke and Emmett Heard officiating. Burial will follow in Greens Chapel United Methodist Church with Benefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 8 at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Corene Heard; one son, Emmett (Tara) Heard of Hartselle; five grandchildren, Kari Heard, Amy Heard, Casey Heard, Ellen Heard and William Heard; one great-grandchild, Aubree Heard Riggins; and three sisters, Frances Cantrell of Wedowee, Linda Gore of Franklin, Ga., and Marilyn Williamson of Tyus, Ga.
