Wendell Wallace Briggs of Madison, Alabama entered the presence of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on December 16, 2024 when his battle with Alzheimer’s disease ended.

Winky to his mom, Wendell to his friends, and Grandpop to his grandkids, he grew up in Florence, Alabama. After graduating from Coffee High School, he attended the University of North Alabama. It turns out the most important thing he did at UNA was go to the Baptist Student Union where he met Belinda, his wife of 54 years. They married, and he went to basic training days later and served in the Army Air Cavalry in Vietnam. Upon his return from Vietnam, he received his Master’s in Business Administration from UNA.

Wendell worked in hospital, medical practice, and assisted living administration until he retired. He was active in his churches and community organizations in Florence, Enterprise, Tuscaloosa, and Madison. He had an expansive catalog of songs and stories for his children and grandchildren, the very best of which were the adventures of the Snotwilder family. He was an avid UNA and Alabama sports fan.

Wendell is survived by the love of his life, his wife Belinda, daughters Melissa (Ravi Singh) and Valerie (Eric Baker), son Bert (Alicia Briggs), and grandchildren Maddie, Kathryn, Weston, Stella, Martin, Marin, and Lauryn. His beloved mother Frances and father Wallace predeceased him.

The Briggs family would like to thank Wendell’s caregivers and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care

https://www.huntsvillehospitalfoundation.org/get-involved/give-now or the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering imb.org.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Grove Church on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00pm until 3:00pm.
