Wendell Reeves Gann, 78, passed away from this world on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after a brief illness.

He was a lifelong resident of the Oak Grove Community of Franklin County. He devoted his life to his wife, kids, grandkids and community.

To his family, he was Dad, Papa and Papa G. Those were the roles that he cherished the most. He was very wise and was always sharing his wisdom with his family. He loved his farm, and his greatest pleasure was taking the grandkids to see the cows or ride the tractor.

To his community, he was a friend. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a man of integrity, and he exemplified that in everything that he did.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Kay Gann; his parents, Harvey and Verna Gann; sister-in-law, Deborah Gann; and brother-in-law, Don Dillard.

He is survived by his children, Dwayne Gann, Tim Gann, Shane Cagle, Stephanie Hamm, Jason Gann and Josh Gann; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Gerry Gann; and sister, Brenda Dillard. His third great-grandchild is due in July.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 3:00 P.M., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in East Franklin Cemetery. Officiating will be Brother Ricky and Brother Lyle Garrison. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1:30 P.M until service time.

Pallbearers will be Jason “Buck” Gann, Josh Gann, Shane Cagle, Jeff Hamm, Ted Clark and Skyler Tackett.

Honorary bearers will be Lambert Garrison, Roger Bell, Michael Smith and Rodney Alexander.

Roll Tide, Papa!
