Weldon Lamarr Kirby – Obituary

Weldon Lamarr Kirby age 73 passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1943 in Dyersburg, TN the son of the late Verbal and Helen Grogan Kirby. He graduated from Dyersburg High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Navy four years after graduation. After the service he attended Vo-Tech School and attended college for one year. He was employed by Quaker Oats, for over twenty five years as an electrician, retiring in 2001. He was a Baptist. Mr. Kirby enjoyed inventing and working on projects.

Mr. Kirby is survived by his wife, Nevada Jean (Robertson) Kirby of Henderson; five daughters, Cindy Burchfiel and husband Donnie of Dyersburg, Vicky Able of Henderson, Kathryn Ann Taylor of Augusta, SC, Misty Thomas and husband Brian of Henderson and Amber Able of Henderson and two sons, Jerry Kirby and wife Ellen and David Kirby all of Henderson; fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Cole and husband Gerald of Dyersburg and Linda Millington of Knoxville and a brother Milton Kirby and wife Marie of Rossville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gloria Willard.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday.
