Webster Wayne Tippett – Obituary

websterWebster Wayne Tippett, 75 of Florence, AL passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Mr. Tippett served our county in the US Navy by serving on the USS Franklin D Roosevelt and the USS Lexington were he went on three Mediterranean cruises and one Far East cruise. After his time in the service he came back home and opened Tippet Battery in North Florence which was open for 30 years. He was known by many people in the area as the “Battery Man” He had two other passions in his life and that was Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 10-12:00 a.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in Greenview Memorial Park with military honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David “Jake” Tippett, Sr. and Naomi “Lourine” Gladney Tippett; wife, Mary Ann Tippett; brothers, Carrol Gene and John David “J.D.” Tippett, Jr.
Survivors include his son, Jeffery Wayne Tippett; daughter, Pamela Tippett Gray (Danny); grandchildren, Jordan Gray (Leah) and Bailey Gray; brothers, David, Glenn and Huey Tippett; sisters, Bobbie Sue Stutts, Hilda Wray (Paul), Mary Nell Boston, and Gloria T. Rhodes.
Pallbearers will be Fred Bevis, Brian Wray, David Hankins, Jody Tippett, Jason Tippett and Danny Gray.
The family would like extend a special thanks to North Alabama Hospice and the nurses at Keller Landing.
