Wayne Morris Lentz, 85, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024 after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Syliva Turner Lentz. He is also survived by his children Morris Lentz (Amanda Gilbreath), Brannon (Teresa) Lentz, and Renee (Ron) Scott. Surviving grandchildren are Caroline (Ben) Key, Allie Scott, and Jarret Scott. Surviving great grandchildren are Wesley Key and Waylon Key.
Mr. Lentz, an avid golfer, worked for Reynolds Metals Company and then the Tennessee Valley Authority at Browns Ferry. He served his community through youth sports organizations, the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department, the Rogersville Emergency Unit, the Rogersville Historical Preservation Committee, and the Rogersville Jaycees. A member of Rogersville church of Christ, Mr. Lentz was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Visitation with the Lentz Family will be Friday, September 27, 2024 from 1- 3 p.m. at the Rogersville church of Christ. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Danny Lovell, John Lovell, Bryan Turner, James Embry, Kenny Wright, Johnny Williams, and Randy Reeves. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Buddy Milliken, Ronnie Milliken, Kevin Milliken, and Bobby Joe Lentz.
Memorials in Mr. Lentz’ name may be made to the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department , P.O. Box 540 Rogersville, AL 35652 or to Friends of Karen – Supporting Critically Ill Children and Their Families in honor of his great-great nephew, Ellis Lentz, at friendsofkaren.org.
