Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Wayne Elliott, age 75 of Decherd. Mr. Elliott passed from this life October 15, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A native of Franklin County, he was a 1964 graduate of Franklin County High School. He grew up in Decherd where he served as a volunteer fireman for several years. He eventually served as Fire Chief between 1979 and 1989. He was a 50 year member of Pipe Fitters Union, local 572 and retired from AEDC following more than 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything out of doors. He was an avid fan of all Vanderbilt sports. Above all, his grandchildren were his top priority, following each of them in their various activities from sports to 4-H. Mr. Elliott is preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Katherine Starnes and his father, Raymond D. Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Collins Elliott; daughters, Melanie (Tony) Hill of Belvidere and Courtney (Mark) Kendrick of Decherd; son, Derek (Debra) Elliott of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Easton and Hannah Hill of Belvidere, Keely Kendrick of Decherd and Jackson & Katie Elliott of Lynchburg. He is also survived by an aunt, Irene Kilby of Manchester and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Wednesday October 20, 2021 between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday October 21, 2021 from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Rutherford officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
