Warren Kriel passed away on December 8, 2023 at the age of 97. Warren Arthur Kriel was born in Louisville KY to Marie Johnson Kriel and Emile Kriel. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Monterey as a ship’s cook. He was awarded the American Area Ribbon, the Victory Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon 4 stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon 1 star and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946.

Mr. Kriel lived life to the fullest. His efforts in sports landed him in the Amateur Hall of Fame for golf and softball. He travelled over the Southeast selling equipment to bowling alleys and excelled at bowling as well. He also worked in Las Vegas as a black jack dealer and a pit boss. He served as a bartender in the Bonnie Castle Club in Louisville for many years. Mr. Kriel made many contributions to his home city of Louisville KY and in 2020 received the Award for Outstanding Citizen.

Mr. Kriel is survived by children: Paula (Joe) Armstrong, Mark Kriel, Wayne (Kim) Kriel, Brian (Lisa) Kriel, Bobby (Anita) Woolard, Jimmie Lynn Maynard, and Regina Lackey, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Jean, parents, and brother George Kriel.
