Funeral service for Warren Jason Coffman, 93, of Athens will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 3 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Lynn Marshall officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Coffman, who died Monday, August 12, 2013, was born March 29, 1920, in Brace, Tennessee, to Leonard Jason Coffman and Mary Elizabeth Kelley Coffman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and also worked at TVA Browns Ferry. Warren loved working his large vegetable garden. His last garden was when he was 89. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, where he sang bass in the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Naomi Newby Coffman; second wife, Corine Ogles Coffman; two brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Coffman; four daughters, Patricia Foster (Al) of Birmingham, Pamela White of Athens, Priscilla Nunnelee of Decatur and Faith Meeks (Billy) of Harvest; six grandchildren, Christy White Eastman, Jason Foster, Sarah Foster Knight, Katy White, Nathan White, Chelsey Barnes; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Concord Baptist Church, Food Bank of North Alabama, or your favorite charity .
