Warren Clanton Morris  Warren Clanton Morris, 91 of Huntsville, passed away on July 4, 2023.

He was born July 13, 1931 to Leonard and Alberta Morris in Hazel Green, Alabama. Warren was the oldest of eleven children. After graduating from Hazel Green High School in 1948, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served during the Korean War as a member of the Darmstadt 2nd Radio Squadron Mobile as a Radio Intercept Operator. He then went to work at Redstone Arsenal, retiring after 30 years as a Configuration Management Specialist in the Dragon and Hellfire Project Offices. He continued his career in Configuration Management at various defense and NASA contractors until he retired again 15 years later.

Warren was reintroduced to deer hunting through his daughter’s boyfriend (and later son-in-law), and this hobby became a focal point throughout the remainder of his life. He was a member of hunting clubs in North and South Alabama and frequently enjoyed hunting local management areas. He later bought eighty acres of hunting property in North Alabama which he affectionately called his “rockpile” due to the abundance of fine flagstone and limestone outcroppings on the property. After one of the major tornado storms that hit the New Market area, Warren built a one-bedroom cabin, by hand, from the numerous large oak trees that had fallen during the storm. This cabin and the property became his retirement retreat and was a big part of the remainder of  his life. Warren spent countless hours year-round on the property cleaning roads, planting and maintaining food plots, building shooting houses, and hunting platforms, surveying deer activities with surveying game cameras, and of course hunting. He wore out three trucks, two four-wheelers, and two trailers with all of his hunting related activities. Both of his granddaughters took their first deer from his property. He made long lasting relationships with his property neighbors, hunting buddies, and of course, the local deer processor. He continued activity hunting even in the final season of his long, active outdoor life.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie; his daughters, Patricia Rose (Fred), and Sandra Morris; granddaughters, Sydney and Samantha Lewis; sisters, Joyce Pettey and Bettie Bolander; and brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Morris.

Warren is preceded by his parents; sisters, Catherine and Faye; and brothers, Thomas Albert, Joe, Troy, and Rex.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, at Berryhill Funeral Home starting at 1:00PM, with the service following at 2:00PM. Rev. Hal Howard will be officiating. The burial will take place at Huntsville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
