Warner Crow, 84, of Hartselle, passed away on the morning of Feb 25, 2024. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, February 27th, with a Celebration of Life service following at 1pm at the First Methodist Church in Hartselle. Brothers, Lynn Wiley, Bobby Ray Halbrooks, Mike Pope and Doug Wells, will be conducting the services. He will be laid to rest in Speake, AL at the Johnson Cemetery.
Warner is survived by his wife, Linda, sons, Brent (Kim) and Brad (Stacy). He doted on his grandchildren, Sarah Brenton Crow, Maggie Crow, Reece Crow, Davis Crow, Jadyn Chesser and Lexie Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Lillian Crow, sister, Kathryn Evans and niece, Tanya Garner.
Mr. Crow was a well known and loved member of the community. He taught and coached sports at Western High School in Newnan, Georgia for 7 years after graduating from Florence State Teachers College in 1961. He then taught history at Hartselle High School from 1968-1986 and also began selling real estate and building houses in the late 1970s. He would go on to build over 500 homes, mostly in Morgan County and still took part in the home building business with his sons until his last days. He was also an accomplished artist; prints of his paintings are displayed in homes and businesses around Hartselle. He loved to visit with old friends, new friends, and strangers – no one was exempt from hearing a story about his childhood or his grandkids. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed teasing and laughing as much as anything.
Pallbearers will be Terry Smith, Jeff Turner, Jeff Faulkner, Johnnie Howell, Ray Halbrooks, and Mark Cleek. Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Coulter, Bill Nelson, Billy Little, Harold Crow and Jerry Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund at First Methodist Church of Hartselle.
The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at Decatur General Hospital, Summerford Rehab and NHC Moulton for their love and outstanding care over the last three months of Mr. Crow’s life. We are very grateful for the effort and empathy during this time. You are much appreciated.
