Funeral service for Wanda Williams Dougherty, age 70, of Decatur, will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2:00PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Snyder officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00PM to 1:50PM prior to the service at the Chapel. Burial will be at Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
She was born July 6, 1953 to Troy Williams and Betty Tyson Williams in Birmingham, Alabama and passed away December 12, 2023 at Huntsville Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jan Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David E. Dougherty, two children, Claire Robertson and Katie Walden (Andy), two grandchildren, Will Robertson and Harper Walden.
She read her Bible and spent time with Jesus every day. She taught for over 10 years in area schools. She taught Sunday School at Austinville Baptist Church for many years. She loved spending time with her family and soaked up as much time with her grandchildren as possible.
Pall Bearers will be Andy Walden, Travis Weigel, Jason Clifton, Jackie Clifton, Mark Walden, and Byron Johnson.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family request donations to be made to The American Cancer Society.
