Wanda Watson Jordan of Huntsville passed away Thursday, January 19 with her family by her side.
Wanda was born on August 14, 1930 in Canyon, Texas – the third of seven children in a close and loving family. She enjoyed her childhood and had very fond memories of growing up and spending time with family wherever they were, but especially in Cordell, Oklahoma. She graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She really enjoyed teaching elementary school in Fort Worth, Texas and often talked about her students with fondness.
Wanda was a sweet, loving and kind woman that was dedicated to her church and her family. She and Walter raised her daughters and her granddaughters and enjoyed having their friends as a part of her life. She could always be depended on to help with whatever was needed with her family, friends and congregation. She loved visiting and laughing with family and friends, worshipping and fellowship with her church, crossword puzzles, lunches and tea time with friends, and shopping. We all counted on her for her memory of important dates and events that affected family, friends and that involved history. She was interested in everyone and kept in touch with so many people that were part of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Jordan, her daughter, Neila Jordan of Bountiful, UT, her granddaughters, Barbara Agraviador (Nick) and Lesley Gray (David) and her great grandchildren, Lorelei, Kale, Levi, Arlo and Asa, all of Huntsville. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Watson (Donna) of Branson, MO and her sister, Judy Davis (Frank) of Edmond, OK, her sister-in-law Mildred Jordan of Madison, TN and many other family members. She was a favorite aunt, cousin, grandmother, friend, teacher, and neighbor of many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl, her parents, Cecil and Florence and her brothers Delmar, Dale and Jerry and her sister, C’Dell, her in-laws, Gene and Katherine Jordan and many other beloved friends and family members that she missed so much.
Memorial gifts may be made to Childhaven, PO Box 2070, Cullman, AL 35056-2070 in lieu of flowers. She was involved with and supported Childhaven for many years.
The services to celebrate her life and comfort her family will be at Twickenham Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 23 in the Fellowship Hall. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with a visitation one hour prior.
