  F.2.29.24 Wanda Mitchell.jpgWanda Rose (Jackson) Mitchell passed peacefully on January 16, 2024. She was born March 7, 1934, in Tuscumbia, Alabama to James Andrew Jackson and Ophia (Hester) Jackson.

She is survived by sister, Nell Brook and husband Stanley of Sheffield, AL; grandson, Rauney James Mitchell and great-grandson, Peyton James Mitchell of Marineland, FL; daughter-in-law, Judith M. Parton of Georgia; and son, Tim Mitchell of Huntsville, AL.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rauney L. Mitchell; her parents, James and Ophia Jackson; son, Art Mitchell; and sister, Vera Lee Nemeth.

Wanda graduated from Mars Hill Bible School, Florence and was a long-life patron. She retired from Chestnut Lodge Hospital, Rockville MD as an Operations Manager. She was noted for her beautiful gardens and love for decorating. She was a pioneer of home computers; owning one of the first personal Apple computers. She developed this into a graphic crafts business upon retirement. She loved her family and always set an example of a true Southern Lady.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, Tuscumbia AL. Private family burial will be at Piney Grove Cemetery, New Bethel, Colbert County, Alabama. Bro. Davy Kincaid of Calvary Baptist Church Tuscumbia will officiate.
