Wanda Marie Adkins departed this life on October 26, 2014 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 65 Years, 7 Months, 29 Days. She was born February 27, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of the late DuWayne and Betty Christy Stuart.
She was united in marriage to Frank James Adkins on June 5, 1965. Mr. Adkins preceded her in death on January 12, 2013.
Mrs. Adkins courageously fought terminal illness for 20 years and was a true fighter. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She was married to her soul mate and love of her life. She was an incredible mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Adkins worked in retail with K-Mart in Des Moines, Iowa. She lived her final year Savannah, Tennessee. Before that time she lived in Des Moines for 64 years.
She is survived by her three children, Paula Campbell and her husband Marty of New Virginia, Iowa, John Adkins and his wife Amelia of Des Moines, Iowa, and Amanda Brawdy and her husband Brandon of Savannah, Tennessee; one sister, Sonja Mauk of Grimes, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Jordan Schultz, Kayla Schultz, Jessey Adkins, Kasey Adkins, Connor Brawdy, and Wyatt Brawdy.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Bryan William Adkins, and her brother, Harry Stuart.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Des Moines, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Darryl Worley Foundation.
