Wanda Lou Wilkes, 79 of Arab, died Sunday September 3, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Mrs. Wilkes was born June 17, 1938 in DeKalb County to John Calvin Burke and Thelma Savonia Ivey Burke. She was a homemaker; her husband James Allen “Buddy” Wilkes preceded her in death on September 16, 2014. She enjoyed bowling; working in her flowers and loved taking care of her family. She was a member of the Easter Star in Huntsville.
Mrs. Wilkes was of the Methodist Faith.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Danny Wilkes and Tom Wilkes and Sandy; daughter and son-in-law: Dianne “Missy” Campbell and Jon; her grandchildren: Phillip Wilkes, Stephen Wilkes, Amanda Wilkes, Jason Campbell and Justin Campbell; a sister and brother-in-law: Reba Whitehead and Bill and a special friend: Rheta Davis. She was preceded in death by her son: James Ronald “Ronnie” Wilkes; her parents: John and Thelma Burke; her brothers: Verbon Burke, Waymon Burke and Cloyce “Corky” Burke and a sister Vira Davis.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 7, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Burke, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. September 7, 2017 prior to the service.
