  Wanda Gates Profile PhotoWanda Lou Cooper Gates, 72, passed from this life on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center—Gilmore in Amory. She was born on December 21, 1951 in Monroe County to Elkin and Opal White Cooper. Wanda worked for many years in the garment industry retiring as a line supervisor. She enjoyed reading, tending to her chickens, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Pearce Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where she loved attending when she was able.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. John Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

She is survived by two daughters, Amanda Jernigan (Tommy) of Smithville and Angie Hendrix (Mark) of Nettleton; brother, David Pearson of Shannon; her sister, Brenda McCreary of Hatley; grandchildren, Chance and Tanner Jernigan, Allison Davis (Randy), and Corey Lewis (Kelly); great grandchildren, Theodore and Flynn Davis and Bailey and Owen Lewis; and her nieces, Michelle Gray and Lee Ann Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Hoyle Cooper; and her husband, James “Buddy” Gates.
