Wanda Jeanne Barran Turner, 80, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born October 27, 1933, in Crump, TN, to William Jasper and Maggie Dee Barran. She was a 1951 graduate of Central High School in Savannah, TN, where she was Miss CHS. She graduated from Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis with a degree in nursing in 1954. She married the love of her life, Frank Turner, of Tupelo on October 1, 1954, in Savannah, TN. She resided in Greenwood from 1954 to 1970 where Jeanne worked as a registered nurse at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. She was a charter member of North Greenwood Baptist Church and was active in the children’s ministry. Her family moved to Fulton in 1970 when her husband purchased S & W Pharmacy, and she worked at the Itawamba County Hospital for 20 years. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. Jeanne learned to play golf and enjoyed many days at the Fulton Country Club. After retirement, she volunteered at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice serving patients in Itawamba County. She moved to Traceway Manor in Tupelo in 2007.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, November 21, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Don Baggett officiating. Burial will be in the Saltillo Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Frank Turner, of Tupelo; one daughter, Julie Pickle (Jerry) of Houston, TX; two sons, Tommy Turner (Kristen) of Tupelo, and David Turner (Sarah) of Madison; six grandchildren, Brian Turner (Christy), Brooke Newsom (Blake), Matt Pickle (Ashlin), Jon Pickle, Emily Turner, and Laura Turner; five great-grandchildren, Calyn Turner, Brooklin Pickle, Judson Newsom, Quin Pickle, and Levi Newsom.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, P. O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.
