Graveside services for Mr. Walter Wayne “Swampdog” Hudson, age 49 of Wadley, was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke with Rev. Phillip Jenkins officiating.
Mr. Hudson passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home in Wadley. Born in Clay County and a resident of Roanoke for most of his life, Mr. Hudson worked for Potts Logging as a Logging Equipment Manager for a number of years. Outside of work, his favorite thing to do was working on his equipement, being in the woods, and watching Alabama Football. Mr. Hudson loved to ride his motorcycles and he was a knowledgeable movie buff.
He is survived by two daughters: Shannon Hodges (Cody) and Rebacca Hudson (Katy Nutt), both of Roanoke; three sons: Walter Wayne Hudson Jr. (Lori Barker) of Muscadine, Tristen Hudson (Lisa Brown) of Wadley, and Jayden Wayne Hudson of Roanoke; 8 grandchildren; two sisters: Sue Davidson of Millerville, and Betty Newman (Glenn) of Alexander City; one brother: David Hudson (Carla) of Daviston; his fiancée, Carol Whatley; and his best friend, Amy Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Venson Hudson and Virginia Dovie Smith; his granddaughter, Haley Hudson; and his brother, Wayne Smith.
Pallbearers were Walter Wayne Hudson, Jr., Tristen Hudson, Cody Hodges, Jayden Hudson, Bruce Shields and Matt Shields.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
