Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Walter “Walt” Henson, age 67, of Lexington, South Carolina, a native of Franklin County. Mr. Henson passed away at his home in the early afternoon hours of May 29, 2020. He served a tour of duty in the U.S. Army, most of which was spent at Ft. Hood Texas. During his military service, he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was assigned to the position of Tank Commander and Mortar Platoon Leader. As a civilian he worked for several companies, including Pacific Gas & Electric and North American Transformer. Mr. Henson was an avid student of history, was an animal lover, especially dogs, and he enjoyed traveling. He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Gillespie Henson and his father, T. J. Henson. He is survived by his wife, Dimitrula Henson of Lexington, SC.; daughters, Christy Baltimore of Franklin County and Amelia Henson of Oakdale, CA.; sons, Walter Franklin Henson of Franklin County, Travis Henson of Lexington, SC., Alexander Hughes of Atlanta, GA and Matthew Fox Seattle, WA; sister Josephine Henson of Lexington, SC; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral home Tuesday June 2, 2020 between the hours of 10 and 11 a.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Mike Gillespie serving as officiant. Interment will follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery with military honors and the Winchester Masonic Lodge #158 will conduct the final rites of burial.

It was Mr. Henson’s wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his honor to Pets Inc., a pet rescue and adoption organization, via their website www.petsinc.org or by mail to: P.O. Box 6394, West Columbia, SC 29169.
