Walter Tyrone Pippins of Baldwyn, Mississippi
November 30, 1950 – March 19, 2023
Our precious Tyrone, affectionately known as “Dude”, was welcomed to his Heavenly home on
Sunday, March 19, 2023, while receiving care at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was
surrounded by his loving wife of 52 years and their devoted children.
Walter Tyrone Pippins was born on November 30, 1950 in Baldwyn, MS. He was the only child
of Clytee Copeland Pippins and Hinton Pippins. He was truly their pride and joy. He professed a
hope in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Nebo C.M.E. Church where he remained faithful
until his death.
He graduated from Lee-Prentiss High School in Baldwyn, MS and attended Mississippi
Industrial College in Holly Springs, MS where he received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary
Education. He retired from Day-Brite Lighting with 30 years of service where he made
friendships for life.
He married Lillian Crawford on January 22, 1971 and to this union three children were born:
Rhonda, Reginald, and Reneetra. He loved being with his family and he was always the life of
the party. Dude was always present for anything his kids or grandkids were participating in
whether it was school, church, or the community. He was their biggest cheerleader and critic.
Memories will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Lillian; children,
Rhonda Pippins Crump, Reginald (Becky) Pippins, Reneetra Pippins, and Sherrodd (Darryl)
Wilson; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; aunt, Evelyn Bender; 4 sister-in-laws, Leon
(Chris) Glenn, Annie (Calvin) McPherson, Frances Morrow, and Evelyn (Richard) Smith; one
brother-in-law, Lee (Ruby) Crawford; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Clytee and Hinton Pippins.
