Walter H. Garner of Rogersville died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at ECM Hospital at the age of 82.
W.H. was a graduate of Florence State University and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was employed for 35 years as a biochemist with the Alabama Department of Public Health. He was a godly man and a member of Corum Chapel Church. Walter loved everyone that he met. He could often be found in the church kitchen helping prepare the Brotherhood breakfast each month. He enjoyed gospel music, collecting knives and talking about Alabama football. However, his true passion was photography. He enjoyed capturing life’s everyday moments with family and friends. There was seldom an occasion that you did not see him without at least one of his cameras. Before his health began to fail, he traveled near and far to enjoy his favorite groups.
Acts11:24 is a fitting scripture for him: “For he was a good man and full of the Holy Ghost and faith…”
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 – 8 at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 in the chapel with David Mason and Mike Poff officiating. Burial will follow in Barkley Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Bobby James, Leslie Kelley, Jason Kelley, Chase Kirby, Caleb Gulley and Jackson Parker and honorary, Lucas Thigpen.
