Walter Ellis Taylor, 77 of Cherokee, Alabama passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, September 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 30th at 1:00 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church with Scot Farris and Jack Bailey officiating. The remains will lie in state from 12:00 to 1:00. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, James Talmadge and Carrie Lottie Taylor; and brother, Robert Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathy Taylor; sons, Craig Taylor (Mary), Brent Taylor (Amanda); grandchildren, Caitlyn Seal (Tanner), Ben Taylor, Samantha Swafford, Collyns Stinson; great-grandchild, Owen Nash Seal.

Walter was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee, a retired electrician with TVA, a member of IBEW Local 852 for 50 years, and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid Alabama fan that enjoyed watching them no matter the sport. He loved his family, especially his four grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Thompson, Brad Thompson, David Farris, Kenneth Thomason, Tanner Seal, and Ben Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Tunks, Curtis Wallace, and Winfred Corsbie.

The family expresses special thanks to Mary Jo Corsbie. Also, thanks to Hospice of North Alabama, especially Nancy and Amanda.

Memorials may be made to Harris Chapel Baptist Church.
