Funeral service for Walter Earl “Vick” Vickers, 88, will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian McLaughlin officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial with Military Honors will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday, May 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Vickers died on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born October 14, 1933, in Georgia, to Young Vickers and Annie Mae Wilson Vickers.
Mr. Vickers was a United States Army Veteran. He was a loving husband to his wife, whom he referred to as his “Bride Ginny”. They met on a blind date on March 3, 1956 and married November 3rd that year. They celebrated their 65 anniversary together in November.
He enjoyed visiting with his whole family, whom he loved dearly. He liked fishing, camping, backporch swing sittin’, reading and watching military movies. He was employed by Sears, in retail sales, for 31 years before retiring. He was Saved and was a devoted christian man who loved God and was preceded in death by his parents and a son: Chuck Vickers.
