Walter Earl Thompson – Obituary

Funeral for Walter Earl Thompson, 81, of Moulton will be Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Major David Singletary officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Thompson, who died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Lawrence Medical Center, was born September 20, 1932, in Lawrence County to James Ephriam Thompson and Katie Green Thompson. He worked for RC Cola for 12 years as a delivery man and worked at Champion Paper Mill for 25-plus years before medical retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time outdoors, playing cards at Five Points Grocery and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Laverne Waugh Thompson; three sons, William Earl Thompson (Sherry), Leldon Lacey (Parlisa) and David Lacey (Kawaina); three daughters, Tammy Flanagan (Brady), Mary Lacey and Amy Lacey (Paul); one sister, Minnie Lee Segars; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Leldon Lacey, David Lacey, Jason Dunaway, Brandon Mitchell, Brady Flanagan and Tim Chaney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Coffee & Card Players of Five Points Grocery.
