Walter E. Taff, 89, Phil Campbell, Ala. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at his residence.

He lived most of his life in Franklin County and was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. He was a veteran, member of Franklin County Baptist Association and Cattleman’s Association.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, with Tim Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Phil Campbell Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 2 p.m. at the church.

Survivors include his children, Rita (Harold) Martin, JoAnn Dunn, James (Deb) Taff, Bobbie (Kenny) Sumerel, Deb (Doug) Aaron; brother, Paul Taff, Dallas, Texas; sister, Mary Ann Moody, Oneonta, Ala.; grandchildren, Dede Myl, Mindi Ma, Jamie Sumerel, Bo Taff, Jodi Taff; great-grandchildren, Maddie Myl, Cooper Myl, Connor Ma; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Sumerel, Bo Taff, Bryan Myl, Albert Ma, Lyonel Martin, Andrew Brackin.

Honorary bearers will be Deacon of First Baptist Church, Phil Campbell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertsie Virginia Taff; brother, Earnest Taff.

Pinkard Funeral Home will be directing.
