Walter C. "Bo" Vassar Jr.  Funeral service for Walter “Bo” Vassar, Jr., 85, will be Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Hal Daigre, Emily Moore, and Eli Moore officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 8, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Vassar passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1939, in Limestone County, to Walter C. Vassar, Sr. and Atha Ursula Creel.

Mr. Vassar was preceded in death by his wife, Linda W. Vassar, of 64 years, his sons; Joey Lee Vassar and Chris Bailey, a brother; Charles Lambert and his parents.

He kept his wife ever so close to his side. If you saw one of them the other was close by. Mr. Vassar was a musician, a singer and a drummer. Starting of his love of music began in 1970, and played professionally for most of those years. He was influenced by one of the Best Drummers ever, “Buddy Rich”, and got to play a set with him. He had played behind Jerry Lee Lewis, The Allman Brothers, and many more. He also offered his talents as a backup musician in Muscle Shoals, while several bands cut records.

In 1978, Bo changed professions and became a supervisor for Delphi (General Motors), working there for many years before retirement. He also served our country in the United States Army for 3 years and was a member of Connect Church in Decatur.

His love of Christ was without question. He loved the Lord and is now in His presence.

Cheri Sellers (James)

Brother – John K. Vassar (Kathy)

Sister – Sue Hundley (Charles)

Ten Grandchildren –
Emily Moore (Ryan), Adam Miller,
Morgan Wilson (Dakota), Tyler Vassar (Elle),
Skylar Evans (Ariel), Weston Evans (Quinci),
McKenzie Moore (Wyatt), Isaac Sellers,
Skylor Williams and Grey Sellers.

Eighteen Great Grandchildren

Pallbearers will be Skylar Evans, Weston Evans, Isaac Sellers, Skylor Williams, Grey Sellers, Adam Miller, Tyler Vassar, Carter Moore, Wyatt Moore, Dakota Wilson and Ryan Moore.
