MONTGOMERY-The secret is out! Reader’s Digest lists the Forever Wild Land Trust’s Walls of Jericho as one of the Best Hikes Across America. The publication names 20 hikes and the best time of year to take them. March to October is recommended for the Walls of Jericho.
“We’ve long known that the Walls of Jericho is special,” said Acting Conservation Commissioner Chris Blankenship. “It’s nice to see the property receive recognition from a national publication.”
The 6-mile trail is strenuous, so hikers should plan accordingly. Prior to your trip, visit theInteractive Map for the trail route, check the weather forecast and pack plenty of water. Be sure to give yourself ample time to enjoy the hike.
In addition to hiking, the Walls of Jericho offers horseback riding, primitive camping and birding. Hunting is also available as part of the James D. Martin-Skyline Wildlife Management Area.
