Wade Douglas Snipes

Wade Douglas Snipes, 84, departed this life to enter life eternal from Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Born in Lee County on Dec. 11, 1938 to the late Lamar Sumerial Snipes and Olene Walton Snipes, Wade completed High School in Tupelo. He joined his Dad’s Cattle/Livestock operation and maintained an interest in cattle farming all his life. He also drove a truck many years for Flying H Trucking. Wade was married to Addie Mae Powell on March 12, 1959, a marriage of 55 years at her death on Nov. 22, 2014. They were longtime members of Bissell Baptist Church. Wade enjoyed the outdoors, watching Westerns on TV and chewing tobacco.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Ben Hudspeth officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM Tuesday, June 20, 2023 and from Noon-service time Wednesday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel. Wade was preceded in death by his wife, Addie; his son, Todd Snipes; and his parents, Lamar and Olene Snipes. He is survived by 4 children, Al Snipes (Mary) of Tupelo, Doug Snipes (Melissa) of Fulton, Tammie Snipes (Glen) of Randolph, and Ann Chambliss (Thomas) of Tupelo; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Grover Snipes of Texas.
