W. H. (Harless) Johnson – Obituary

The funeral for W. H. (Harless) Johnson, 97, of Decatur, will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the funeral at 2 p.m.

Mr. Johnson, who died at home on Aug. 3, 2017, was born Oct. 7, 1919, to Jewett and Elzie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 71 years, Virginia Odell Johnson, as well as by his six brothers and two sisters. He retired from ConAgra and was a long time member of Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Sandra Clark and her husband Fred, Shirley Ziegler and her husband Tom, and Gerald Johnson and his wife Leslie. He had seven grandchildren, Kenneth Noblin and his wife Kirsten, Amy Kearns and her husband Jason, Tony Ziegler and his wife Ida, Daniel Johnson and his wife A.K., Ben Johnson, Jordan Johnson, and Caleb Johnson; and six great-grandchildren, Hannah Noblin, Caitlin Noblin, Kelly Noblin, Lydia Kearns, Andrew Kearns, and Anna Kearns.

Shortly before his death, he told his family and friends that he had lived a long time and had a good life, which he enjoyed very much, but that he was ready to go Home.
