Funeral service for Vondale S. Merritt, 83, will be Monday, January 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Shaddix and Bro. Clayton Speed officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery . Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Church.
Mrs. Merritt died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Huntsville Hospital. She was born June 13, 1933, in Morgan County to James Buron Shaneyfelt and Altha Lorene Barkley Shaneyfelt. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartselle where she was the organist for over 30 years. She served faithfully with her husband, Russ, as they served together in Music Ministries in various churches in Maryland and in Alabama. Mrs. Merritt taught music for over 40 years and was a member of the Decatur Music Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ Merritt and her parents.
