Mrs. Virginia Rogers Allred transformed by the promises of her faith to eternal life on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Sanctuary Hospice House after a long, fruitful and purpose filled life. She was born November 29, 1931 in Saltillo, MS, one of 5 children born to the union of Baxter Rogers and Lillie Sample Rogers, pioneer Saltillo families. Her 4 siblings preceded her in death. After graduating high school, Virginia attended Itawamba Junior College (ICC) earning an Associate’s Degree. Her career was working as an accountant/bookkeeper employed by Hodges Home Supply, McCullough Steel, and Rite Chemical Company working until age 85. She volunteered at North MS Medical Center for over 15 years – only covid stopped her stewardship. Virginia married Alvin Allred in March of 1951 and they shared 48 years together before his death February 19, 2000. She was a member of Verona Church of Christ. She loved reading and studying the Bible and worship. A strong, independent but gentle soul, Virginia’s hobbies included yard work, her flowers and caring for her babies and great grandchildren who lovingly called her “Ma. Well done, Virginia-you made a difference in all our lives.

A brief scripture reading and prayer will take place at 1 PM, Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Minister Wayne Cox speaking. Private burial will be in the Rogers/Sample family plot at Mayfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon to service time on Thursday only. Survivors include her daughter, Sheryll Ray and her husband, Otis of Texarkana, AR; 4 grandchildren, Sean Allred, Mandy Case (Johnny), Elizabeth Lemley (Taylor), Brandon Allred (Meghan); great grandchildren, Lawson Lemley, Hayden Allred, Lexi Allred, Mia Allred, and Cora Allred; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families and her next door neighbor and adopted “grandson”, Billy Savage. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin, son, Phillip Allred and grandson, Axl Allred and 4 siblings, Dorothy Miller, Jewel Lanphere, Dora Scruggs and Joel Rogers.
