Virginia-Lee Ray, 58, of Sand Rock, Alabama, died August 8, 2023.
She was born on June 30, 1965, to Johnathan Thomas Matthews and Felicita Violeta Matthews in St. Thomas, USVI.
Virginia-Lee served in the United States Marine Corps for 16 years before being medically retired at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
She married Daniel Carl Ray on December 8, 2001 and they had eleven children, Cody, Jordon, Chelsea, Sarah, Samantha, Kasey, Travis, Ajay, Brooke, Katie, and Jarred.
She was an avid reader, dog lover, and a proud and loving mother. She loved traveling, the beach, and long days spent with a book in hand.
Virginia-Lee is survived by husband: Daniel C. Ray; children: Cody, Chelsea, Sarah, Samantha, Kasey, Travis, Ajay, Brooke, Katie, and Jarred; grandchildren: Sydney, Abigail, Raylynn, Aiden, Kobee, Bailey, Remington, Jeremy Jr., Jeremiah, Jordon, and Joseph; siblings: Maria-Elena Smith, Wanda-Lynn Capps, Mia Moore, and Johnathan Thomas Matthews Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents Felicita V. Matthews and Johnathan T. Matthews, and her son Jordan Akira Ray.
Funeral services will be September 23, 2023 at her home with, Wayne Matthews officiating.
