Virginia Dickey Profile PhotoVirginia Lavelle Dickey passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at her home in Mooreville. She was 82 years old. Virginia was born February 24, 1942 in Arkansas, the daughter of Haskell and Beatrice Montgomery Hood. She was a graduate of Mooreville High School and a longtime member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy. She was the widow of Jimmy Dickey with whom she spent 30 years of marriage until his passing in 2013. Virginia enjoyed gardening and was a talented seamstress. Virginia took great pride in her appearance and enjoyed getting dressed up with her favorite jewelry. Most of all, Virginia adored her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was always a priority.

She leaves behind three children, Cheryl Dickinson of Fulton, Kim Curtis (Mike) of Liberty, and Regina Duffie of Baldwyn; four grandchildren, Justin Dickinson (Sandy) of Mantachie, Ashley Montgomery (Tyler) of Baldwyn, Morgan Starkweather (Chance) of Brandon and Olivia Duffie of Baldwyn; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron Dickinson, Kaid Harper, Kylen and Kash Harper, Chloe Montgomery, Jace Michael Starkweather, Rylan Elizabeth Starkweather; three sisters, Eva Dunn, Francis Williams, and Martha Foster; and a brother, Junior Hood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Beatrice Hood; her husband, Jimmy; her daughter, Loretta Lynn Rushing; and brothers, Phillip, Harrison, James, and Jessie Hood.

Visitation will be 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2024 at Pegues in Tupelo.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pegues Funeral Directors with Bro. Clifton Whitt officiating. Graveside service will follow at will be in Union Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Hood, Allen Hood, Brad Hood, Michael Whitmon, Allan Whitmon, and Craig Justice. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaid, Kylen, and Kash Harper.
