Obituary of Virginia Joan ChristopherVirginia Joan Christopher, 91, of Trinity Al, died November 16, 2022 at her home. She was born March 21, 1931 in Preble County, Ohio, to John Conrad Rodeffer and Annie Jane Douglass. Mrs. Christopher was a member of First United Methodist Church, Decatur, AL.

Mrs. Christopher was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend to many people. She was born and raised in Ohio on a farm in Preble County. She moved to Alabama in November 1974. She was a dedicated Christian and loved to serve others. She could be found at church teaching Sunday school, cooking and serving First Fellowship meals, or helping anywhere needed. She was also always helping around town as well delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, volunteering at the CCC, or volunteering at Disaster Relief Warehouse. She loved to travel and be the hands and feet for Jesus. Joan and Homer went on 7 mission trips to Bolivia, 2 trips to Israel, Mozambique Africa, lots of trips with youth groups, and many trips with family all over the US.

Mrs. Joan Christopher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years Homer Lee Christopher; her 3 sisters and 3 brothers; son Richard Dean Christopher; grandson Sean Eugene Lake.

Mrs. Joan Christopher is survived by her daughter Phylis A Otey (James), son Michal L. Christopher (Karen), daughter Sheila J. Reavis, and devoted daughter-in-law Cheryl Christopher; 8 grandchildren, Cathy Bartlett (Scott), Deanna Bastin (Drew), Jamie Oldham (Jeff), Jeremy Christopher (Katrina), Erin Olson, Nicole Casteel (Nathaneal), Brian Christopher, Sarah Sapp (Bryan);15 great-grandchildren Benjamin Oliver, Crista Bartlett, Kassidy Bartlett, Jasmine Bastin, Jonathan Oldham, Jillian Oldham, Kelsey Christopher, Dillon Christopher, Dereck Christopher, Deandra Olsen, Christopher Reavis, Ella Casteel, Noah Casteel, Cori Christopher, Aiden Sapp and 2 Great-Great grandchildren Morgan Oldham and Maverick Oldham; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 240 Johnsonston St SE, Decatur AL 35601.
