OCTOBER 24, 1944 – JULY 8, 2024
Virginia was celebrating her 80th year, born October 24,1944. She died of heart failure Monday, July 8, 2024.

She was raised in Albertville, Al attended Snead College, graduated from Auburn University and received her Masters in Elementary Education from UAB.

Wagner Elementary 1966-68 and Glencoe Middle 1969-2009 were her teaching homes. For more than forty years Mrs. Pruitt taught fifth grade with the majority of years in the same classroom.

Church life began at Solitude Baptist in Albertville. Her adulthood was spent at North Glencoe Baptist singing in the choir and teaching senior ladies Sunday school. Virginia carried on that teaching heart again at Lakeview Baptist in Southside.

She is preceded in death by her father Hugh Porter Hudgins and her mother Era Tidmore Hudgins, both of Albertville. Virginia is survived by her husband Ernest Parris, her daughter Shea Johnson, her son Adam (Julie) Pruitt; grand-daughters Courtlyn Harcrow, Avery (Andy) Cruver, Harper Pruitt, chosen grand-son Chandler Harcrow; great grand-daughter Lainey Virginia Cruver; sisters Brenda (Mike) Duvall, Shelia (Phil) Guthrie; niece Gina (Bobby) Crogan, nephew Scott Duvall; great nephew Robbie Crogan.

Mother asked for her service to” look like a spring garden not a drab funeral”. Please dress for celebrating.

Her heart was for children. She asked to please consider supporting John Croyle’s Big Oak Boys & Girls Ranches.
