Virginia F. Boyd – Obituary

Virginia-Boyd-1432476931Virginia F. Boyd, 89, of Bolivar, departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

The widow of Raymon Boyd, who died on December 15, 1984, after almost 36 years of marriage, she worked as Asst. Postmaster with Western Mental Health Institute and as a rural carrier and clerk with the Bolivar Post Office over 30 years. She was born May 2, 1926, in Saulsbury, daughter of the late Grover Franklin Sneed and Era Lorena Gatewood Sneed and lived all of her life in Hardeman County. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, eating out at Joe’s Restaurant, travelling, and especially loved her family. Mrs. Boyd was an active member of Bolivar First Baptist Church where she participated in the Golden Sounds Choir and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda F. Plunk of Montezuma; two sons, Jimmy Boyd of Bolivar and Roy Boyd of Decaturville; a sister, Brenda S. Vincent of Memphis; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild due in July. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore F. Sneed and a granddaughter, Tammy Clifft. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/donate.
